Barbara Elaine Wood, 85, longtime resident of Ashland passed away Wed. Jan. 17th with her loving family by her side.  Raised in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sarah (Coombs) O'Brien and wife of the late Nelson J. Wood who died in 2007.

Barbara is survived by five children; Michael Wood and his wife Nancy of Mechanicsburg, PA, Mark Wood and his wife Cynthia of Southborough, Elise Lovely and her husband Mark of Milford, Sara Beth Wood of Southbridge, and Deirdre Osborne and her husband Malcolm Jr of Ashland, 16 grandchildren, Kelly, Jaclyn, Nicole, Ryan, Jennifer, Meghan, Gregory, Hillarie, Peter, Gordon, Veronica, Owen, Zachary, Keighla, Hannah, and Malcolm III, two great-granddaughters, Lenna Rose and Luelle Rae,  one sister, Jeanne Craven of Malden, and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.  She was the sister of the late Mary Lace of AZ, Elizabeth Buckley of Ashland, and Arthur O'Brien Jr of Malden.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Mon. Jan. 22nd at 10:00am in St. John the Evangelist Parish, 8 Church St. Hopkinton, MA.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.preborn.com
