Barbara (DeSantis) Sauro, 79 of Ashland passed away Friday Sept. 6th at her home.  Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Annie (Carter) DeSantis and wife of the late Joseph Sauro who died in 1997.  Barbara grew up in Newton and was later a longtime resident of Natick before moving to Ashland.  She worked for many years as an executive secretary for the Newton Public School System at the Education Center.  Barbara was an active member of the Ashland Lions Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Tracy Lambert and her husband Jimmy of Framingham, and Elisa Shaw of Hopkinton, two grandchildren, Jake and Kaylee Lambert, three sisters, Susan Luchette and her husband Joseph of Norfolk, Rhonda Scripture and her husband Jim of Springfield, and Deborah Saunders and her husband Paul of York, ME, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday Sept. 12th from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  A graveside service will be held Friday Sept. 13th at 11:00am in Calvary Cemetery, 250 High St. Waltham, MA.
