Barbara L. Kaufman, 79, of Ashland passed away Wed. June 3, 2026.  Born in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late James and Doris (Melanson) Fitzsimmons and wife of Michael J. Kaufman for 58 years.  Barbara worked as a medical secretary for many years at Framingham Union Hospital and later Metrowest Medical Center.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Joseph Kaufman of Framingham and Andrew Kaufman and his wife Lisa of Ashland, daughter in law, Sara Kaufman of Wayland, seven grandchildren, Haley, Grady, Brooke, Brandon, Anna, Jaden, and Maci, sister, Joanne Eden of Framingham and brother, James Fitzsimmons of Auburn, and several nieces and nephews.  Barbara was the mother of the late Brian Kaufman who died in 2023.

Visiting hours will be held Friday June 12th from 2:00-5:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.
