Obituary

Barbara A Greene, 78, of Newbury, formerly of Ashland, passed away Thursday August 2nd at the Wayland Hospice House. She was the loving wife of the late Alfred Greene, who died in 2004. A resident of Ashland for 45 years, she moved to her family's home on Plum Island, Newbury, MA in 2007. Barbara was a well known hairdresser owning and operating the Barbara Greene Hair Stylist Salon in Ashland and Alfred's Salon in Holliston and Sherborn. She was also an active real estate agent with Berset and Taylor Realty in Ashland and most recently worked as the Sunday receptionist at the National Parker River Wildlife Refuge in Newbury. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother of three cherished grandsons, she will be remembered by many for her tireless efforts to help old and new friends alike through difficult times in their lives. Mrs. Greene is survived by two sons; Sean Greene and his wife Arlene of Bellingham; and Darren Greene and his wife Janet Sullivan of Wellesley; three grandson; Ryan, Kyle, and Aidan; three sisters; Joan Chassion of Natick; Sandi Giordano of Natick; and Beverly Holt of Colorado Springs, CO; brother in law; John Greene and his wife May of Sherborn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 7th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave., NW, Suite 1066, Washington, DC 20005.
