Barbara Ann Fleet (White) 87 of Framingham passed away Thur. June 8th surrounded by her close family and children. She was the daughter of the late Albert James and Christine (Leavitt) White. She grew up in Framingham and graduated from Framingham High School Class of 1948. In 1950, she married her sweetheart, Thomas Stanley Fleet and the couple moved across the country and Bermuda during the Korean War while Tom was in the service. Upon Tom's discharge they returned to Ashland to raise their family. After Tom's unexpected death, Barbara remarried to the late Ernest Dow.
Barbara had many accomplishments including being a Past Commander and President of Ashland American Legion, obtaining her nursing degree and graduating from Framingham State College Class of 1980. She was a member of the Framingham Heart Study, Red Hat Society, Ladies of Scotia, and was a member of the choir at St. George's Parish in Framingham. She worked as a nurse at Framingham Union Hospital and Bethany Nursing Home before retiring in 1999.
She is survived by her children; Christopher Fleet and his wife Carol of Medway; Richard Fleet and his wife Karen of Ashland; James Fleet and his wife Ellen of Framingham; and Mary Ann Dow and her boyfriend Bob of Hopkinton; sisters; Mary Gazard and Beverly Kelly; brother; Benjamin White; grandchildren; Jason, Jessie, Melanie, Michelle, Rick, Mike, Robert, Harold, Jennifer, Rebecca, Danielle, Jeffrey, and Jake; great-grandchildren; Gwyneth, Riley, Emma, Cameron, Willow, and Timothy; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Tom Fleet Jr and grandmother of the late David Joshua Fleet.
A funeral service will be held Thursday June 15th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 9:00-11:00am prior to the service.
