Obituary

Barbara DeMauro, 66, of Uxbridge, formerly of Ashland, passed away, Wednesday, June 8th at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of Florence (Brady) Mekkelsen and the late James Mekkelsen. Barbara was the loving wife of Theodore DeMauro for 44years. A longtime resident of Ashland, she moved to Uxbridge in 2004. Mrs. DeMauro worked as a partner and bookkeeper for Baystate Woodworking for many years. She was a former member of the Woman's Guild of St. Tarcisius Church in Framingham and active member of St. Mary's Parish in Uxbridge. Barbara was a caring and outgoing woman who will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by four children; Kristen Godin and her husband Rick of Southborough; Nicole DeMauro and Michael Forbes of Oxford; Theodore DeMauro and Peg Sandwell of Bellingham; and step-daughter, Pam Fennel of Santa Fe, NM; five grandchildren; Michaela Horne and Ryan Godin; Michael Forbes; and Aidan and Hunter DeMauro; two step-grandchildren; Katerina and Mackenzie Frasca; two sisters; Sandra Stevens of Shrewsbury and Martha Hayes of Framingham; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Carol Mekkelsen. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 13th at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church in Uxbridge followed by cremation. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2:00-5:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701; or the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701
