Barbara Anne Murphy, 81, formerly of Millis, passed away, Tues. Jan. 6th at Newton Healthcare. She was the wife of the late John E. Murphy for over 50 years. A longtime resident of Millis, they retired to Marion, MA in 1985. She will be remembered as a lover of art and for her beautiful gardens. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Murphy is survived by six children: Laura Boyd and her husband Robert of Shorewood, IL; Martha Murphy of New York, NY; Elizabeth Chaisson and her husband Joe of Charlottetown, PEI, Canada; Brian Murphy and his partner Phil Sbratta of Brookline; Daniel Murphy of Montreal; and Peter Murphy and his wife Tracy of Ashland; six grandchildren; three sisters; Ruth Toplyn, Laura Dewyngayert, and Norma Sullivan; and one brother, George Lane. Barbara was the mother of the late Johnny Murphy, and sister to the late Robert Lane. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10th at 11:00am in Evergreen Cemetery in Marion, MA. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM with a service of remembrance at 7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main St. in Ashland.
