Obituary

Arvid "Chip" Breed passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at the age of 87, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Chip dedicated more than 35 years of his career to CommGas, where he worked as a skilled technician.  Mr. Breed served his country honorably in the US Army from 1957-59.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Joanne; his three children, Jeffrey and his wife Carolyn, Steven and his husband Roger, and Kristen and her husband Stuart; his three grandchildren, Alyssa, Brian, and Leanne; and his great-grandson, Jaxon.

Chip was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur and Henry, and his sister, Julie.

A loving family man, Chip found great joy in spending time with his loved ones. He was a constant presence on the sidelines, cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. He cherished oldies music, classic war movies, and was a lifelong, passionate fan of Boston sports teams. In his later years, he became an avid coin collector.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor his memory with a donation to the Alzheimer's Association .
