Archie Leroy Beaton, 67, of Ashland and Falmouth passed away Tuesday May 14th at his home surrounded by family. Born in Winchendon, he was the son of the late Archie and Elizabeth (Sawin) Beaton and husband to Rosalie (Cioffi) Beaton. They were married 46 years. Archie worked as a mechanic, paver, and construction worker early in his life until becoming a local home builder in 1987. A resident of Ashland for 46 years, Mr. Beaton served his community as a past member and chairman of the Ashland ZBA, past member and chairman of the Ashland Planning Board, past member of the Ashland Lions Club, enthusiastically served as Ashland's Official Santa Claus for many years and was named the 2001 Ashland Citizen of the Year. He was named the 2003 Energy Star Builder of the Year. He was an avid yard saler and collector of stuff and always had a story to tell or advice to give. He loved spending time with grandchildren, family, and friends. In addition to his wife Ro, he is survived by two children; A. Christopher Beaton and his wife Carolyn of Ashland; and Dawn-Jean Taddeo and her husband Chris of Ashland; five grandchildren; Olivia and Charlotte Beaton; and Michael, Cole, and Jessica Taddeo; two brothers; John Beaton, and, his twin, the late Arnold Beaton and his wife Judie; three sisters; Nancy Steele, Alice Goldsmith and her husband David; and Diann Marzougui and her husband Fethi. Archie was adored by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A funeral service will be held Saturday May 18th at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Metrowest Homecare and Hospice, 85 Lincoln St., Framingham, MA 01702.
