Andrew Joseph Szlachtun, 95 of Ashland passed away Sat. Nov. 25th after a period of declining health.  He was the son of the late Vincent and Anna (Chomicz) Szlachtun and husband of the late Eleanor (Bienkowski) Szlachtun who died in 1983.  Andrew was a graduate of Canisius College and worked as a chemist at US Army Natick Labs until his retirement in 1986.  He was an active member of St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland and faithful member of the church choir for 60 years.  Andrew served his country honorably in the Army from 1950-52.

He is survived by four daughters; Andrea Saari and her husband Eric of Framingham, Linda Szlachtun and her wife Patricia Stahley of Millsboro, DE, Sandra Bachman and her husband Robert of Lewis Center, OH, and Stefanie Jones and her husband Ken of Northville, MI, eight grandchildren, Matthew Saari and his wife Megan, AJ Saari, Jennifer Bachman, Rachael Bachman, Nicholas Bachman, Michael Roland, John Roland, and Julia Roland, two great-grandchildren, Keira Saari and Paige Saari, sisters-in-law, Maxine Bienkowski and Lena Bienkowski, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Mon. Dec. 18th at 10:30am in St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday Dec. 17th from 3:00-6:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Cecilia's Choir, 54 Esty St. Ashland, MA  01721.
