Obituary

Andre was born on February 19, 1925 to Louis Emmanuel Hippolyte Stines and Fernande Delatour Stines. He grew up in Haiti and began working quite early in his youth to help his mother raise the other children as his father had passed at an early age. He attended St. Louis de Gonzague Secondary school and continued his postsecondary studies in the field of Finances and Accounting. He worked in Customs and at the Standard Fruit company in the accounting department. Later he joined Texaco as an Accountant. He enjoyed a long career with Texaco in Haiti and later in the Chrysler building in NYC for many years. He served with distinction until his retirement. During retirement, he pursued his interests in real estate and assisted many with their tax preparations. His hobby was following the stock market so he freely gave advice to family & friends. He married and raised his three children: Ronald, Veronica and -- in Queens, NY. He divorced twice and enjoyed a long and happy relationship with Carole for almost a quarter of a century. In 2005, he moved to Ashland and has lived here until his death. He loved gardening and always tendered his flower beds no matter where he lived. He also dabbled in auto mechanics and always did his own oil changes and tune ups. Andre loved all kinds of music and enjoyed dancing with his wife, Carole, at many parties and events. He had a great sense of humor and touched the lives of many with his acts of kindness. He was very concerned about the poor in Haiti and always prayed for them. He put his money where his mouth is and - without fanfare - donated his resources regularly to causes focusing on schooling and medical care for the poor in Haiti. In honor of Andre, our family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the two organizations - that focus on his passions: education and health care: Three Little Flowers School & Community Center (Sant Twa Ti Fle) in Petit Goave, Haiti named in memory of three little girls who were students at this rural school who died. Children now number over 100 and in addition to schooling, they receive two meals a day. The Albert Schweitzer Hospital has provided medical services in Haiti for many decades. Please send your donations to: Three Little Flowers Center, P. O. Box 821031, Pembroke Pines, FL 33082-1031 Or Albert Schweitzer Hospital, P.O. Box 81046, Pittsburgh, PA 15217 thank you... merci..... mesi!
