Alton Allan Rodenhiser, 71, contractor, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham, MA after a long struggle with declining health. Born in Cambridge, MA, he lived in Watertown Framingham and for the past 13 years, with his son, Bill, in Ashland and then Hopkinton, MA. After his honorable discharge from the army, Al went into the family business with his parents Richard and Ruth Rodenhiser. Al eventually took over at Electric Sewer Cleaning Co. of Allston and built a thriving business. Nearing his retirement, Al was proud to join his son Bill at Rodenhiser Excavating of Holliston, MA. Al was a former trustee of Wesley United Methodist Church, Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop 6 and past president of MASPAC. He was a member of Pequossette Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Watertown, and Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, Valley of Boston. Al was a special father and husband who enjoyed family get-a-ways including: camping, snowmobiling and weekends on Lake Winnipesauke. Al was a driven man who was also profoundly generous. Al would give his anything to somebody that needed it more. He is survived by his loving devoted son, William J Rodenhiser, of Hopkinton, MA, two beloved grandchildren, Samantha and Jason Rodenhiser of Medway, Ma, former wife, Cynthia Rodenhiser of Summerfield, Florida, and his faithful friend and Labrador Retriever, Boomer. Calling hours will be held Sunday January 14 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main Street in Ashland with a Masonic Service to be held at 2:45 PM.
