Alan F. Mucha, 57, of Ashland, passed away, Feb. 5th suddenly after a period of failing health. Born in Turners Falls, MA, he was the son of Matthew and Dorothy (Graves) Mucha. A longtime resident of Ashland, Alan graduated Ashland High School Class of 1971 and UMass Amherst Class of 1975. He was employed in the high tech field for many years and most recently managed a service club. Alan was a gifted athlete playing basketball, baseball, and excelling in football during his four years at Ashland High School. He is survived by one son: Christian Mucha of Boston; brother, Robert M. Mucha and his wife Maryann of Keene, NH; long time companion, Joan Patterson; nephews: Robert M. Mucha, Jr. and his wife Heather of Barnstable, MA; James M. Mucha and his wife Christina of Natick, MA; Matthew T. Mucha and his wife Melissa of Salem, MA; four grandnephews, two grand nieces; and several longtime friends including very special friends Tom and Pam Mulhall. He was the former husband of Paula Mucha of Ashland. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
