Frank J. Masiello Sr., 57, of Ashland, formerly of Framingham, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, in Boston, after a period of declining health.

He was the husband of Karen (Reardon) Masiello.

Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Elvira (Palange) Masiello. He attended Somerville High School and graduated with the Class of 1967. He later graduated from Framingham State College with a bachelor of science degree and then received his master's degree in criminal justice from Western New England College.

Mr. Masiello was a lieutenant in the Framingham Police Department for more than 27 years, retiring in 2000.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Lisa Masiello-Gigliotti and her husband, Ron, of Ashland; a son, Frank J. Masiello Jr. of Ashland; a brother, Joseph Masiello of Sudbury; two sisters, Claire Maxim of Wareham and Christine Masiello of Rochester; and two grandchildren, Nina and Peter Gigliotti.

A funeral Mass will be said Wednesday, May 30, at 10 a.m., in St. Cecilia's Church, Esty Street, Ashland.

Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Ashland.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland.
