Biography

Rita (Magnani) Wells, 59, of Henrico, VA; formerly of Ashland, MA passed away Thursday, April 28th at her home. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of Louis and Angie (Franchi) Magnani. She was the wife of Geoffrey S. Wells, to whom she was married 30 years. A graduate of Ashland High School, Rita went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from UMASS and later a Registered Nurse degree from Newton Wellesley Hospital. She worked as a visiting nurse for many years with the Framingham Visiting Nurse Association. She will be remembered as a caring nurse to all who knew her, caring for her patients as well as many family members. Rita was a devoted wife and mother and will be deeply missed. Her winning smile and hearty laugh lit up every room she entered and she couldn’t hear a song without dancing. Rita and Geoff had a devoted and loving marriage. She was also a fan of smooth jazz, the Beatles, and especially the Boston Celtics.
In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by two children; Adam and Jessica Wells of Watertown, MA; one sister, Dr. Janet Magnani of Ashland; three brothers; John Magnani and his wife Linda Martin of Newton; former Senator David Magnani and his wife Nanette Brey Magnani of Framingham; and Richard Magnani and his wife Diane Miller of West Sayville, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wed. May 4th at 9:00am at St. Cecilia’s Church in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 PM followed by a brief remembrance service at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
